The purpose of the Risk Assessment application is to identify active threats along the pipeline route on the basis of a set of rules derived from codes and industry best practices (e.g. API 1160 and ASME B31.8s). Once these active threats have been established, a region-customizable consequence model is generated to gauge their potential impact in case of failure. Ranking the various risk factors by severity, the Risk Assessment tool helps operators identify pipeline segments with unacceptable risk levels thus enabling them to take immediate mitigation measures.
