The Spillage Assessment function uses pumping rates, response times, the location of block valves, and elevation profiles to predict the severity of potential spills caused by a rupture or leak. On the basis of these predictions, effective pollution response actions and contingency plans can be formulated. Furthermore, the outcome can directly be used by the Risk Assessment function for consequence calculations.
