New EGP Generation - The perfect Tool for your carry-on...

With its small dimensions and little weight (titanium housing) the new 4”EGP Tool does not represent any logisticchallenge at all. But the new EGP generationalso impresses by its “inner values.” The eight innovative measuring arms of the new EGP 4”Tool chart the geometrical dimensions of the inner pipeline measure with an accuracy (< 0,1 mm) unknown until today. Thanks to new electronics and sensor technology it is now possible, to precisely determine radius, length and direction of integrated pipeline bends. This data delivers important insights for the deployment of additional “Inline Inspection Tools.” First successful applications have already taken place in co-operation with ROSEN USA and ROSEN Brazil. The following CDP 6/8” proved a much tougher nut to crack. During the development process we already went to the borders of the technically feasible in order to achieve a good data quality in all sections. Besides suffi cient magnetization of the pipeline wall, a homogeneous sensor release is in particular necessary for both diameters. At present, some modifi cations are still being made and we are confi dent to successfully conclude this project as well. An additional new development within the realm of ID Mapping is the EGP 6/8”, which is based upon the 4” Version. This challeng- ing project contains power transitions from 6” to 8” segments and vice versa, which were successfully passed by the new EGP at the very fi rst attempt.
