An optimized configuration of the disc tool concept improves the tool’s performance for a specific task: the tool can match the structural requirements of the pipeline system, notably its valves and fittings.
Some examples of special configurations that have been developed and applied successfully:
- Special disc sizing and mounting for the progressive removal of wax
- Unidirectional disc mounting for critical batching operations such as product removal with nitrogen or water removal during pre-commissioning
- Dual-diameter configurations for pipelines built with two different nominal sizes or even three different nominal sizes (triple diameter)
- Profile tools for the determination of pipeline bend radius
- Descaling cups with hard metal studs, combined with discs mounted on the standard pig body for progressive removal of scale as well as hard wax deposits
- Special configurations for gate valves, where standard disc or cup pigs cannot be used on account of the gap length
- The 2-in-1 brush/magnet configuration, available as 20" and larger, has proved to be highly effective for collecting all kinds of magnetic debris and providing a large carrying capacity
- Special Polyurethane for application in certain pipelines transporting chemicals (ammonia)
With many years of experience covering all types of pigging jobs, ROSEN can assist clients with specific recommendations for optimized configuration of cleaning tools to increase performance or overcome problems posed by the pipeline system.
